Yamaha SZR 660 | Mikuni TM42 Flatslide Carburetor Kit | Single Carb Kit- for using PODs

     This Mikuni TM42 Pumper single carburetor conversion kit is designed for Yamaha SZR 660 models when the OEM air-box is not utilized. Please note that a POD filter is not included due to the positioning of the TM42 carburetor's right-side cable connection bracket. An alternative kit is available featuring a custom-fitted left-side throttle assembly for compatibility with the OEM air-box. Given that the gas tank does not provide sufficient space behind the carburetor for a filter, a POD filter must be installed overhead, where ample space is available once the air-box is removed. To effectively implement this new configuration, it is necessary to procure a solid U-bend or a flexible reinforced vacuum pipe from another source. This pipe should connect to the TM42’s 65mm spigot (typically 2 1/2″) to facilitate a U-turn back up and over the carburetor, ultimately connecting to a POD filter that is securely mounted by means other than solely the carburetor connection.

     Additionally, this kit is offered in a more economical TM38 option, also intended for use without the air-box. For those wishing to retain the OEM air-box, we provide the TM40 or the previously mentioned TM42 with a custom-fitted, low-profile left-side throttle cable attachment, which is also suitable for the Honda XR650R and mimics the TM40 carburetor. These kits are available as separate listings, along with options for other 660 models.

     The TM42 Pumper has established itself as our most remarkable upgrade across all brands in the 600cc and larger big thumper segment, delivering significant performance enhancements for all Yamaha 600 models. Although the air-box space limitations make this carburetor a challenging fit for the SZR 660, the effort is undoubtedly worthwhile. Conducting wide-open throttle tests with both the filter on and off will help ascertain whether there is adequate filter area to meet the carburetor's demands. This same evaluation will also assist in determining the most appropriate main jet options provided.

     Included in the kit are a Mikuni TM42-6 carburetor, a PA11 carbon fiber nylon printed two into one manifold complete with mounting hardware and gaskets, a heavy-duty rubber engine mounting sleeve with clamps, a 1/4 turn quick action throttle, and a nylon-lined push/pull cable set.
