Mikuni Throttle Cable | TM carbs | Mikuni Carbs VM & XV Virago Single Carb Conversion Cable

This Mikuni throttle cable is 950 mm long (measured chrome elbow to chrome elbow) and is designed for Yamaha XV Virago models when paired with Mikuni VM carburetors from 30 mm to 38 mm, as well as all non-pump Mikuni TM carburetors from 36 mm to 38 mm.

It features a standard Yamaha XS/XV-style top fitting and a 90-degree lower elbow fitting that screws directly into the carburetor top for a clean, low-profile installation and appearance.

Note on needle adjustments: Because the elbow threads straight into the top of VM carbs, accessing the needle clip for adjustments requires removing the carburetor entirely and rotating the carb body to unscrew the top.

The exposed inner cable length is optimized for Mikuni VM carbs that use the keyhole-style attachment to the throttle slide (valve). If your setup uses an OEM-style Japanese motorcycle VM carb (typically not suited for 4-stroke engines) with a cable holder screwed directly to the slide, this cable is only recommended for 36 mm and larger carb sizes.

These are premium-grade cables with a Nylon-lined outer housing for reduced friction and excellent heat resistance.

Installation and maintenance tips:

• Always lubricate the inner wire with cable lube or a very light oil (such as 3-in-1) during installation to prevent clogging and ensure smooth operation.
• Apply a light waterproof grease to the cable end barrels at their pivot points.
• For cleaning the cable (especially useful on dirt bikes), use WD-40 or a very light oil like 3-in-1. These effectively flush out dirt without causing buildup or clogging.
